A Fresh Start: Why Young British Couples Are Turning to MM2H for a New Beginning in Malaysia
As a young, recently married British couple, my spouse and I aim to build a life together that'll allow us to thrive, explore and of course start a family. However, the current trajectory of life in the UK has left us feeling somewhat disillusioned, prompting us to look elsewhere for our new beginning.
Now, it so happens that we recently discovered Malaysia's MM2H visa and that has really given our idea a lot of momentum. Since then, our research into this visa has increased our excitement to peak levels. MM2H, or Malaysia My Second Home in full, provides its holders with so much goodness.
Appeal of Malaysia: Sunshine, Culture and Community
For example, Malaysia, with its year-round tropical climate, rich cultural diversity and kind-hearted, welcoming people, offers an entirely different lifestyle than what we're used to in the UK. How so? Well, imagine waking up to sunny skies, enjoying a leisurely breakfast whilst surrounded by lush greenery. Imagine having the freedom to explore a vibrant city like Kuala Lumpur, or retreat to a serene beachside town like Mersing.
But there's so much more.
Financial Benefits and Lower Cost of Living
Certainly one of the biggest draws of MM2H for us is the monetary advantages it offers. For one thing, the cost of living in Malaysia is significantly lower than in LOndon and the rest of the UK. As a young couple looking to save for the future, the opportunity to stretch our money further is incredibly appealing. Be it it's affordable housing, cheaper everyday expenses, or the low price of F&D, petrol and entertainment, in Malaysia, everything seems to come at a fraction of the cost we're used to in the UK!
Additionally, the strong Pound to Ringgit exchange rate also works in our favour, making it easy for us to boost our current middle-class lifestyle to that of a financially comfortable expatriate, with no worries about our finances. Better still, MM2H also allows us to bring in our UK-generated income tax-free—an absolutely wonderful windfall, especially as we've made fixed income investments in the UK and are able to work remotely.
Building a Family in Malaysia: Education and Healthcare
Naturally, starting a family is a key part of our plan and MM2H's provisions for access to Malaysia's excellent education and healthcare systems are very reassuring. To wit, Malaysia is home to many international schools that offer world-class education, often with curricula that are familiar to ours in the UK, such as O-Levels and A-Levels. This ensures that our children receive top-notch education and in a multicultural environment. Chuffed. :)
Clearly, healthcare in Malaysia is another area that's critical for us. Well, it turns out that Malaysia offers significant advantages on this front too. We've learned that the country's medical facilities are of high standard, with many specialists, physicians and clinicians trained in the UK, Australia and the US. Yet private healthcare is far more affordable than what we're used to, meaning we wouldn't have to compromise on quality when it comes to our health and well-being. In fact, Malaysia, just like Singapore, has become known as a medical tourism hotspot in South-East Asia. We feel that's saying something.
Balanced Life: Social Cohesion and Personal Fulfilment
One of the aspects we find most compelling about Malaysia is the sense of social cohesion the country enjoys. Sadly, it's something that seems to be increasingly elusive in the UK. Malaysia's multicultural society, where different ethnicities and religions coexist harmoniously, offers a refreshing change. As a matter of fact, Malaysia is the kind of environment where we feel we can raise our future children with respect and understanding for others around us, regardless of race, religion or culture.
Moreover, the slower pace of life in Malaysia, coupled with its emphasis on family and community, aligns perfectly with the kind of life we envision for ourselves. So yes, we look forward to finding personal fulfilment in a country that offers both modern amenities and a strong sense of equality and tradition.
MM2H – New Horizon for Our Future
The more we learn about MM2H and what life in Malaysia could offer us, the more convinced we are that this is the right path for our new life together. It's not just about escaping the challenges we face in the UK; it's about embracing the opportunity to create a life filled with sunshine, cultural richness, financial stability and the promise of a brighter future.
As we move forward with our MM2H objective, we can't help but feel super-excited about what lies ahead. Malaysia is no longer just a place on the map for us; it's the destination we've been searching for; a place to grow, to love and to build the life we've always dreamed of.
